Last November 3 and 4 at Unknown Pub 13 and Balcony Music House, the Pink Trash Party marked the 4th anniversary of the Pink Trash Project in a vibrant burst of colors and energy, coupled with the birthday celebration of their lead singer, Jai, affectionately known as Ate Pink. The event showcased not only the band’s musical prowess but also the deep camaraderie among its members. In an exclusive interview, the band members shared their immediate feelings, reflections on the concert, and the memorable moments that made this event truly special.
Immediate Feelings and Favorite Moments
As the concert concluded, the band members were overwhelmed with a mix of exhilaration, adrenaline, and happiness. Brendan described the experience as “exhilarated, full of adrenaline, happy,” while Shan added, “Sobrang saya, full of adrenaline, worth it yung pagod.” Jai, the birthday celebrant, expressed being “overwhelmed, still at high,” and Vasyl was shocked at how they pulled off the event. Leo shared that even after the performance, the joy continued with lively conversations about the event.
Each band member highlighted their favorite moments from the concert. Brendan and Shan both emphasized the joy of performing the crowd-favorite song “Get Drunk.” Ate Pink cherished being called “Ate Pink” on stage and receiving special gifts, including a pink cable from Team Payaman’s Yow Andrada, who also is with the band, YNO. Vasyl cherished the special mention from Sam of One Click Straight, and Leo found the compliment about his skills during the Pink Trash Party most memorable.
Nako! Nung may special mention ako kay boss Sam (One Click Straight)! Yun yung highlight ng gabi ko. I was sick on the day of the gig and I gave it my all to push through at maging normal lang! Na-low battery kasi yung wireless transmitter ko para sa bass and I just messed around doing weird motions. Eye contact pa kami non ni boss Sam and he was pointing at me like “hell yeah!”. It just feels nice to be recognized for simple things that just “speak” you, if that makes sense! – Vasyl
The Pink Energy
Describing the on-stage atmosphere, the band members highlighted the fun, light, and solid performance during the event. Brendan mentioned the solid vibe and click among the band members, while Ate Pink emphasized the overwhelming and relaxing feeling of having friends and fans singing along.
Fun and light yung atmosphere nung event, lahat happy and sa stage while performing super solid, nag click kami lahat kahit mga pagod – Brendan
The band received positive feedback from friends, family, and fellow musicians. Ate Pink, in particular, was delighted to learn that people left the event as fans of the Pink Trash Project, emphasizing the importance of support from the music community.
Ang saya lang! Sobrang relaaaaax at nakakakilig yung ang daming nag-singalong with us. Sobrang thankful! – Jai
Challenges and Unexpected Moments
The band faced challenges such as technical issues with amps, cables, and sound delays. Despite these obstacles, the band members managed to handle them with the support of friends and professionals, ensuring a successful event.
While there were few issues during the event, the band members expressed overall satisfaction with the performance.
Birthday Celebration
Celebrating her birthday with the band and the audience, Ate Pink, despite the stress of organizing the event, felt fulfilled and successful. Brendan noted, “Feel ko happy si Ate,” and Shan added, “Nung dumating na yung araw ng gig grabe nawala lahat ng stress ni Ate.” Ate Pink herself shared, “This has been officially the happiest birthday celebration of my life!” She expressed gratitude for the support of friends, fans, and her bandmates.
This has been officially the happiest birthday celebration of my life! Having my friends through thick and thin there, people who didn’t know me but became fans at the end of the show, my favorite band – One Click Straight, Pink Trash Can community, music friends, officemates, and of course my guardian angels – my bandmates.. Leo, Brendan, Vasyl, and Shan – there was nothing else I could hope for! (except siguro sa sana andon din si crush! Charot! (laughs) – Jai
Takeaway from Pink Trash Party
The band hopes the audience takes away a message of self-expression, freedom, and the joy of letting loose. They encourage people to come together, enjoy music, and find solace in shared experiences. Ate Pink expressed a deeper message of self-love, hoping to inspire others to embrace themselves fully.
Sometimes okay lang mag let loose and get drunk. Jk. Ayon, okay lang mag let loose sometimes and be ourselves kasi mas madalas na tayong nabu-busy sa mga bagay bagay and nakakalimutan na natin magsaya which is bad para sa mental and emotional health. Loosen up! – Brendan
I think it’s important for people to come together once in a while to do these kinds of things. Kung ano man yung escape mo sa buhay (na hindi nakakasama), for sure hindi lang ikaw ang ganun, may karamay ka! People did lose themselves during the gig. Thanks Bogshie sa phrase! – Vasyl
Pag hahanapin mo ang sarili mo pumunta ka sa gig ng PTP, ‘Di lang sarili mo makikita mo malay mo pati yung magiging bebe mo. – Leo
When I did this, I just honestly want to celebrate a special day with people I love, with bands I support – but when I was at that moment, all I could think about was I hope everyone gets a feeling of being free and I hope I can make them feel that loving one’s self is the best kind of love existing in the world. – Jai
The Pink Trash Party was not just a celebration of music but a showcase of strong bonds and artistry within Pink Trash Project. As they continue to grow, the band looks forward to creating more memorable experiences and spreading the message of joy, camaraderie, and self-love through their music.
